A famous TV chef comes to Lake Eden for the Winter Carnival celebration. She is killed in Hannah Swenson's Cookie Jar shop so it is closed as a crime scene. For Hannah to reopen her shop she must find out who murdered the chef. Very good story

I enjoy Joanne Fluke very much. The mystery is always well written and her recipes are very good. A very, very good read.

Hannah Swensen is in the process of baking up a storm at the shop she owns, The Cookie Jar in preparation for Lake Eden, Minnesota's Winter Carnival. Connie Mac the star of a very popular cooking show requests the use of her kitchen for baking the official Winter Carnival cake.
Connie Mac is very manipulative and bad tempered in real life. She has many people who are very outspoken in their dislike for her. She is found dead in The Cookie Jar the morning after she was to have baked the cake and the shop is closed as a crime scene. This leaves Hannah in a fix as she has promised to bake cookies for many of the winter display and warm up tents. She needs to solve this crime as soon as possible.

Much better than the corny title indicates. I'll read more of this series.

I've read all of these books by Fluke and they are great fun, love the characters. And I've made quite a number of the recipes and haven't found a bad one yet. Enjoy.

I like the interaction between Hannah and her sister, because I, also, am the eldest sister. The characters continue to be fun and not unrealistic.

From back cover:
Preparations are underway for Lake Eden, Missesota's annual Winter Carnival -- and Hannah Swensen is set to bake up a storm at her popular shop, The Cookie Jar. Too bad the honor of creating the official Winter Carnival cake went to famous lifestyle maven Connie Mac -- a half baked idea, in Hannah's opiniion. She suspects Connie Mac is a lot like the confections she whips up on her cable TV cooking show -- sweet, light, and scrumptious-looking, but likely to leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
