While it is apparent that Flemming is no longer author of the text, the 007 story continues with the Colonel Sun story. Very similar to the Flemming style, but not exact enough to fool everyone. I enjoyed this very much, having read it just after finishing all the Bond books, read in the right order.

Crisis in the Pacific : The Battles for the Philippine Islands by the Men Who Fought Them
Review Date: 7/13/2012

Although lengthy this is an awesome story of the battle for the Philippines. Reading the words of those who were actually there removes this book from the "standard textbook history" but also makes the book a little 'choppy' in the storytelling. Well worth the four months that it took me to read it.

Dumbing Down Our Kids: Why America's Children Feel Good About Themselves but Can't Read, Write, or Add
Review Date: 7/13/2012

Although a little out of date, the message is clear and well supported. This ought to be a mandatory read for all educators.

The beginning chapters and end chapters provide a very good overview of history, culture, and influences without glossing over or over explaining to the point of boredom.
