With all the hype I was expecting a book that would give me chills. While it was an interesting (if quick) read, I didn't think it was scary at all. This is one of the very few times that I have actually preferred a movie version to the book itself.

This book is the official companion to The Trials of Life video series. It was a great help to me when I took an Animal Behavior class that required several papers to be written on the videos. The book goes into more details on some subjects and even covers animals not shown on the series.
However, you don't need to have the series to enjoy the book. It is a self-contained resource that is well written and easily read. The pictures alone make the book worth "reading" :)
