18-20 years ago I read a book about a girl whose family was transferred to the planet Venus to live.  There the girl became very depressed because she needed the sunlight from earth.  The sun only broke through the clouds once every year for 30 minutes or so, and some mean kids in school locked her in a closet during this one time of the year.  Does anybody remember this book?

i'm sure i've read this, but years ago.  i'd guess it was Heinlein, but no idea which one.  i'll ask DH in the morning.

I remember the book.   But I don't remember the title or author.  

It's a short story. 

The story doesn't sound familiar, so I don't think it's Heinlein.  I'd be interested if anyone does figure it out.

I think it's the short story "All Summer in a Day" by Ray Bradbury.

yep, "All Summer in a Day" by Bradbury.  i was right, it was in DH's collection.  (which is why i was thinking Heinlein.)  he found it for me in the book Twice 22.

Sheesh.  I have no less than four Bradbury collections, and none of them have that story :(

The story was first published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in 1954.

I found it in the collection A Medicine for Melancholy.
