I just posted a large print book. When I entered the isbn number, the web-site stated that this is a large print edition etc. etc. But when I look at the actual page where members would order the book, it doesn't mention large print at all. If you look at the book cover, you can see (if you squint) the large print logo on the book cover. What do you think, should I leave it in, or re-post it as a book w/o isbn number?

isbn number 0373159862

I did a search on "Harlequin Large Print" and it shows up...I would leave it as is.  Maybe add the detail to the wiki?

I'd go in to the edit book data and submit it to the volunteers.  It has a different number for the regular version.  The large print versions usually have that added to the title.  Be sure to explain the reason for the edit.  The book edit group is all volunteers, and we like to give them all the info and other ISBN numbers to make it quick and easy.

ETA   Adding to the book wiki sounds like a quick way to handle it.

I think it does not say it is Large Print because technically it is not. Larger Print are not always the type size to qualify as a Large Print, they are just larger than usual. I'd say your book is fine as it is posted.

Thanks for the replies. I just sent an "edit book data"  message. I also changed the wiki thing at the bottom, but it changed the standard print listing, also. They must be connected somehow. So I changed it back for now.

Melanie, the other Harlequin books are listed as Large Print.

The difference between Large Print and Larger Print has become a problem. Persons searching for truly Large Print books can't always read the Larger Print. However, they seem to be coming to us from the database with a LP designation. We (approval team), via our coordinator Sherry, are awaiting instructions from the PBS Team on how this can be resolved. Hopefully, the membership will also get some notification in a future Newsletter. I'll put this topic on my watch list so I can post here when we get some info. Edited to add: as of now, we are just trying to make sure that the title field contains either (Large Print) or (Larger Print) as appropriate.

Anna's been working really hard at this for a while now -- trying to figure out how this should be handled and clarified to work best for everyone.

I have finally gotten an answer from the PBS Team. They took this problem under advisement and did some research on it before answering me, plus a couple other items took lead, but I do have an answer on it now.

Since the database compiler from which we get our database information from seems to be taking the active role of listing books with the "Larger Print" it seems this is going to be an impossible task to try to eradicate them from the listings. Example, Anna started working on this and her beginning number was 477 and after about 100 changes showed 493. A bit like 1 step forward and 3 steps back.

So, according to the PBS Team, posting a Larger Print book to a Larger Print listing is appropriate and not a cause for a problem swap, since it does match the listing. They feel that the requestor does bear some responsibilty to know the difference between "Larger" and "Large" Prints.

In addition to this information, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind members that if you have a book that is a LP edition, whether it be LargER or just LargE please make sure the listing matches your book, and if it does not, contact someone with a BIC icon under their name and ask if this can be changed or not.

The key components to look for before asking for such a change, is to search the Internet to see if most of the other listings on the Net are listed as regular or LP. If the majority of the listings are LP, you stand a good chance of getting the listing changed. If the majority of the listings elsewhere are not calling it LP, it may be more difficult, but not always impossible, so it's always worth the effort to ask.

Please feel free to ask me questions directly or here in this topic.

I meant to post here right after we got the PBSTeam decision from Sherry (mostly to shout hurrah).  So all Large Print and Larger Print books will/should have the Large Print designation and be searchable that way.  But we DEFINITELY need to have either (Large Print) or (Larger Print) in the title field.   Be sure to contact one of the 'BIC's if you have a book that should have that designation but doesn't.  If you can't find one of us easily, then just submit an edit with the Large Print box checked and let us know (in the Reason for Edit box) which book-sites you've searched -- eg. WorldCat, Amazon, B&N, etc..  THANKS VERY MUCH!!
