Help Center - Sending Bulk (multiple-book) shipments

Search Terms:

Bulk (multiple-book) shipments are a great way to earn multiple credits with less postage than it would cost to send the books separately.    Each book in a bulk shipment will earn credit when it is marked received, whether the books are packaged separately or together.

Things to know about bulk requests:

  • General: The requestor is the one who "bundles" the book requests together into a bulk request, using the "Order More From Member" option during the process of requesting a book, or the "Order More from Member" button that appears on the request before the wrapper has been printed by the sender.
  • Accepting a bulk request: Bulk requests appear different from individual requests when they are submitted to you:
    • There will be multiple book titles listed on the request
    • There will be an "I cannot mail" button beside each title, which will allow you to decline that book and accept the other requests.
    • There will be one "I can mail" button at the bottom of the whole request, just like there is on a single-book request
    • If there are Requestor Conditions on the request, these will appear next to every book on the request with a button allowing you to accept each one by clicking "My Book Meets Requestor's Conditions", or  decline that specific request (this will not decline all of the books) by clicking "Does NOT meet Requestor's Conditions",
      • After you choose one of these options for each book (and provide a reason for any declines in the text boxes provided), you will be presented with the buttons which will allow you to accept the request for the shipment.
  • Printing/Marking a Bulk Request Mailed:
    • There will be one Print Wrapper and one Books Have Been Mailed button on a bulk request.
    • There will also be a Cancel button beside each book, if you need to cancel one or more of the books in the bulk request.
    • After the Books Have Been Mailed button has been clicked on a bulk request, the request will move to your Books I've Mailed tab, and will appear identical to multiple individual requests.
      • this is so that the requestor can mark each book received individually, and make a comment about each book if necessary.

Things to know about using PBS Printed Postage to send a bulk request:

  • All of the books in the shipment (all of the books listed on that wrapper) will earn Instant Credit when the shipment is marked mailed.
  • All requests submitted by a requestor that are going to the same address will be combined by the system UP UNTIL the time that the sender accesses the address and prints postage to send the book.
    • If the requestor adds more books to the request after the sender has printed postage, the additional requests will be submitted as individual requests needing separate postage.
