I read this book at the airport and in the airplane. It's an extremely easy read. Not only in terms of plot, but also in terms of sentence structure. I'd say the reading comprehension level is on par with a 4th grader.

The subject matter, though, is for young teens. The protagonist is too boy crazy for my taste. It seems like she can't be alone - she has to either have a crush on someone, or be with someone. Despite the fact that two of her past relationships featured controlling, abusive boys.

The idea behind this novel, and the plot foundation are quite good. But, the details and specifics just don't hold together. The protagonist is more interested in obsessing over boys than she is in figuring out the mystery surrounding her. In fact, she pretty much closes her mind to the events going around her.

Also, I wish the author gave us a bit more detail about what is happening in the world. It seems like it's much farther into the future.

I gave it 2.5 stars. But, I'll actually read the sequel. Simply because I'm curious if anything changes. If nothing does, I'll give up after that.
