I am a fan of Goulart's humorous style, a sort of gently mocking tribute to earlier space opera. In this book, however, it goes too far. The humor has become rigid, the alien species are propagated to the point of boredom, and the formulaic plot has lost it's only clothing. Sorry to say that it seems Ron Goualart has lost his touch by 1987.
