Now this book was a true page-turner! I loved the writing. It was perfect; smooth, believable, had a wonderful build-up of suspense... the characters are described so that you feel you know all of them, even smaller, more evasive ones. The hero, who lives with his father on a large sailboat, is noble, honest, and true to his emotions -- you are with him all the way!
I also feel that Celeste Conway, the author, may be an artist -- she had a way with words and storytelling that was extremely visual, cinematic. And as for horror? It was more of a thriller, or suspense, in the way Gothic novels are. The small New England fishing town was a perfect background for the book; you could almost hear the gulls and the crash of waves throughout. A great read!
