this is the first book in Mrs. farley's wild horse island series. it picks up from where the last book in the phantom stallion series ends.

Darby Carter has adopted a wild mustang from the Nevada. Her grandfather, Jonah, has invited darby and her horse to come stay with him at his ranch in Hawaii.

darby's filly, Hoku, is more wild than Darby remembered her being, and wonders if she will ever tame her. Will the filly learn to trust and acept Darby or any other human? or has her past ruined her forever?
this is number one of eleven and all are wonderful.
all horse people and legends snd lore lovers will injoy these books. there is no questionable content or bad language. the caracters are so real that when darby woud do something, sometimes I would be thinking that I would have done the same thing given the circumstances

Mrs. farley's writing makes you feel like you are with darby in the book and when you are finished you are left wanting to go to hawaii yourself, and see the wonderful sight and sounds that she vividly discribes in the books.the reader is left wanting to read the next one.

An all-around great book and I look forward to reading the rest of the other series.
