What a great book to teach children about the life in the ocean and a sense of community. Eric Carle's illustrations are very colorful and detailed. The story starts with a hermit crab getting too big for it's shell and needs to find a new home (shell). The hermit crab finds the right fit but discovers that the new shell is missing things. In the search we learn about different sea creatures like coral, seaweed, and sea urchins. I highly recommend this book for children learning about ocean life as the story teaches a message about friendship and community as well.
