Gray Godfrey and her husband, Paul, have returned to her hometown for the Christmas holiday. Meeting friends and family in a bar leads to trouble for both of them. Gray wakes up Christmas morning with a huge hangover and no memory of what happened the previous night. Paul never came to bed and isn't in the house. When Paul's rental car is found abandoned, Detective Nina Palmer starts asking questions. Why did Paul leave? Is he injured or dead? And why isn't Gray upset about his disappearance?

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden & Bahni Turpin. Both did a terrific job. But it didn't help the first 1/3 of the book which was alcoholic Gray justifying her drinking. I nearly gave up on the story at that point. Finally when Paul disappeared, the pace of the story picked up. We still had to put up with Gray guzzling everything in sight, but at least there was a story to go with it. I thought I had the mystery figured out, but there was a twist near the end of the book that I never saw coming. My rating: 3 Stars.
