I enjoyed this book, but it was very similar to two of my favorite series (J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood and Lynsay Sands's Argeneau). This series was good, but wouldn't make it to my permanent bookshelf.

The characters were marginal and a bit lacking in the development and follow through. For instant the main character, Cara, is suppose to be this empath who's a single mother, a scientist and adverse to any dominant male because of her childhood, yet she succumbs to Talen. The author tries to put some of it on Talen's dominance and persistence yet she writes it in a way that makes the reader believe it's due to his sexual nature and dominance in bed that ultimately makes her succumb.

I find it hard to believe that a woman as strong and independent as Cara would allow Talen to marry her within hours of meeting her and mating with him. Like I said the book seems a little lacking.

On the bright side the author writes in a slew of other characters which are automatically endeared. For instance Cara's daughter Janie who is merely a child sees the future and is instantly able to make all the dominant males surrounding her fall in love with her to the point of them trying to braid her hair and failing ultimately or lousing to Old Maid and allowing her to paint their nails pink. ADORABLE.

Like I said.....this book was good, but it reminded too much of those other series.
