This is an excellent book that moves quilting from a solely 'Work at Home in the sewing room' activity to a 'Go anywhere and work when you have a few free moments' pastime. The quilts are constructed in separate blocks, each block consisting of a top pieced layer, a middle batting layer, and a backing layer. Only once each 3-layer section is complete are the blocks joined to make the full quilt.
Almost all the author's descriptions and directions are clear and concise, and the many drawings and colorful photographs make the book almost a bit of art as well as a workbook.
