Book Review of The Devious Book for Cats: A Parody

reviewed on + 1775 more book reviews

The five 'authors' are veterans of The Onion and on top of their game here.
This was published one year after The Dangerous Book for Dogs. Authorship is credited to 'Fluffy and Bonkers,' assisted by a LLC that calls themselves the Action 5. Very appropriate line drawings by Emily Flake bound well. It is a handbook of sorts. "Fluffy and Bonkers wrote this parody without authorization because since when did a cat need permission for anything?."
There are a great many chapters offering such counsel as "The Pros and Cons of Being Sullen," "Famous Cats of the Funny Pages" (the book is dedicated to Jim Davis), "The Legend of the Crazy Cat Lady," "Hunting Wild Game," "Staring Like a Pro," " and three chapters on "Extraordinary Cats in History."
"Toying With Allergy Sufferers" 3pp. "Once you've identified an allergy sufferer, it's time to play. If he is on the couch, hop up in his lap. It's a good central hub within easy range of thousands of allergen receptors, which are this toy's on buttons."
Foreword, no index.
