This story is about a beautiful young girl who is raised in Turkey. Her mother is the wife of the Vizer and she is known as the English Rose. When the cruel new Sultan sees Brittany her stepfather arranges for her to be hidden on a ship where she pretends to have been part of a harem. She has her faithful eunuch as bodyguard. The Captain of the ship, Thorn Stoddard, despises Brittany for being part of the harem and using her beauty and body to get through life. The Sultan send men after Brittany and she eventually makes it to South Carolina. She is too naive to understand the world and Thorn marries her to protect her. Thorn has his own problems with his father dying and he had a past with his stepmother. His stepmother and the Sultan try to break them apart but can Brittany and Thorn admit their feelings for each other or will Brittany return to Turkey with her mother and stepfather.
