Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Revealed (Revealed (Thomson))
reviewed on

Even at 500+ pages, to cover the scope and capabilities of Dreamweaver is impossible. This book does boil down all the necessary basic information, tools, and procedures to build and publish a web site step by step. Be sure to get the accompanying disc which comes with the book. It will set up all the data files that you will be accessing as you progress through the book building a fictional website, although real in the sense that you could post the site live. You woulod obviously utilize the steps while substituting real data in place of the books fictional data to complete a website.
It has links to outside resources. Mostly Adobe sites as just the help files of Dreamweaver are immense. Please understand that Adobe is now on the CS4 series, but CS3 is just fine. I would suggest you purchase a domain name (www.abcdef.com) before getting the book. The domain names are about $5-$10 a year to get.
The books physical shape (horizontal) is nice as you'll be going back and forth through the pages a lot and it will balance on your lap easy enough too.
