Book Review of Hotel California: The True-Life Adventures of Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Mitchell, Taylor, Browne, Ronstadt, Geffen, the Eagles, and Their Many Friends

reviewed on

This was a nice attempt at being the definitive book about the California music scene in the 60's and 70's. Sadly the book falls very short. The author repeatedly makes mistakes in his "facts" and it seems almost amateurish, he even misspelled names of people he was writing about, which made him lose a significant amount of credibility. I expected more from Barney Hoskyns which he could not deliver. At the end of the book there are some pages of "suggested reading" obviously Hoskyns didn't read many of these works or he would have noticed the mistakes in his own writing.
