Miranda Phillips' cruel guardian has given her ultimatum: turn over the money left to her by her deceased parents or her young brother Jeremy will be sent away. Terrified at losing her beloved sibling, Miranda flees with the boy to a remote island off the coast of Washington. There she accepts a position as governess to a wheelchair-bound eight-year-old girl. Plenty of action and romance. A very good read.
