This is an excellent overview of the three Punic Wars without getting caught in the minutiae of the battles. The explanations were clear and compelling. The explanation of the strength of the Roman army was interesting. All adult Roman males were expected to undertake military service. After military service, they could be called back when needed. However, Carthage had to hire foreign mercenaries.

The First Punic War had few land battles. The Second Punic War was a land war. For the Third War, Rome decided Carthage needed to be eliminated -- and they did it. This was fascinating reading; I couldn't put it down.
