Fourteen year old Valkyrie Cain works with skeleton detective Skulduggery Pleasant to stop the Diablerie from releasing the Faceless Ones from captivity. They have many allies and even more enemies: some known and some not. The danger to Valkyrie escalates with every book and she gets hurt worse and worse.
This series just gets better and better. I love the names of the bad guys: Murder Rose, Gruesome Krav, Remus Crux. And the good guys too: Ghastly Bespoke, China Sorrows, Tanith Low. The names tell you almost everything you need to know about the characters. After every book I can't imagine where the series will go next and each time I'm just amazed at the wizardry of this author. Simply amazing.
