Honestly, I had zero expectations when I started reading "Probability Angels" but found myself intrigued by Devon's creativity. After reading countless many vampire novels it was quite refreshing to read about angels. Devon's angels aren't all halos and white wings; they're the force responsible for pushing us to our potential.
Devon started off strong, holding my attention as Matthew finds out that his first choice has been killed and he was being given a a second choice. The emotion that Matthew feels is genuine and powerful. You can feel his pain. As he walks down the street, people respond to his emotion by fighting with one another and Matthew's pockets fill with money. The money is, from what I gather, a form of payment for pushing these individuals. The circumstances surrounding the death of Mathew's first choice had all the makings of a fantastic novel but something happened and the story became EH! for lack of a better word. We go from an amazing beginning that is emotional and mysterious to zombiesque angels that create a power struggle between good and bad in the end. UGH! Honestly, I enjoyed the story until it lost the intriguing seriousness of the beginning.
Overall, I felt the story slip away into oblivion and I just couldn't find the intrigue that was there when it began. The characters were interesting but I didn't feel attached to any of them. I really wanted to read more about Matthew and his choices but that wasn't in the cards. Again there were moments that I really liked this book but in the end it was just EH!
