Chomper, a young Sharptooth dinosaur, wants to participate in the Time of Great Giving feast.  He wonders if he really belongs since there is no food for him.  Chomper hopes to get other Sharpteeth to join him by teaching the other dinosaurs to be nice.  As he tries to find these other dinosaurs but all they want to do is roar and chase him away.  Chomper climbs up an icy ledge to escape the Sharpteeth, but the ledge breaks and traps him.  Chomper's friends free him from the ice and welcome him back with a favorite treat of bugs.  This story is based upon a television show and has very colorful illustrations.  The illustrations would appeal to boys and girls as would the theme of fitting into the group.  However, this story is hard to follow and does not take advantage of its illustrations or its theme. Books in the "I Can Read" series have well-written stories especially for readers between picture books and longer chapter books.  This one may appeal to avid television viewers or those preferring pictures over a good story.
