I loved Joan's first book, A Year By the Sea, but honestly, I found this book somewhat depressing. I felt she would never get out of her "funk" and while I can relate to her original feelings, it just seemed to drag on and on. As she nears her spiritual journey, the book picked up a bit for me and I found her tools for discovering yourself. However, I could not relate to her troubles since she has become famous after all, and has the money to travel and go away somewhere every time she starts to feel lost or wants to explore her "longings". Call it jealous, but I just couldn't relate. Sorry Joan.
