With the exception of our main character, attorney Sandy Stern, being a pompous ass, this book was, actually, a fairly good read. I found myself torn at various times between wanting Sandy to fall hard, and then feeling sorry for him. We are started off being introduced to Sandys wife found dead from suicide, and what follows from there are so many dark ghosts from the family closet that one wonders if it will ever end. I dont feel so bad about my family now!
All-in-all, a decent storyline, with several surprises along the way that you wont see coming. I did find Sandys accent and manner of speaking to be a little pretentious and unrealistic, just so, and, at times, the story dragged on and I found my mind wandering, but if you can hang in there, youll probably enjoy it to the end, even if a reader/person like me finds the ending to be disappointing in that those who should have reaped what theyve sown, dont.
