Closed Ranks....When old Tom Carter if found bludgeoned to death, Inspector Alex Sinclair makes quick work of arresting the only suspect, Joey Macready, a youngman living with his mother. Social Worker Kate Weston is convinced that Joey is innocent and persuades Sinclair to probe further. But queries are quickly stonewalled by his superiors. Worse he's accused of accepting bribes and is suspended from the force.
Together, the two discover a dark conspiracy deep in the tightly knit Yorkshire community. Closing in on its dangerous secrets, they must challenge an invisible enemy who is implacable and desperate enough to silence them forever....
