My first JA Jance book and it was GREAT!! Excellently written and totally believable characters. Joanna Brady, sheriff for Cochise County, Arizona, is called in on a murder in the blistering heat; a grisley slaughter in a neighboring state is related . The nightmare will not end until she uncovers the roots of a monstrous obsession buried somewhere in the most frightening dark shadows of the past.
