A string of unexplained events threatens the new life widow Lucy Blacker Swift has built for herself and her two children in a Vermont farmhouse. She reluctantly turns to international security expert Sebastian Redwing, a friend of her late husband's, for help. Sebastian knows he has no choice to help this woman he's been half in love with since her wedding day, and he becomes drawn with Lucy into a dangerous tangle of blackmail, vengeance and betrayal.
