Deeply disillusioned scientist is just going through the motions. He is both pleased by and threatened by the arrival of a younger, less jaded biologist. As he builds a friendship, it becomes clear that the newcomer is hiding something, and his loyalty comes into conflict with his scientific need for exposure of evidence. Interesting and fairly accurate portrayal of a deeply bitter scienticfic burnout, and of the pressures both competition and collaboration can put on personal relationships.
