This book helps children understand that words are a combination of a series of sounds. They learn to manipulate the sounds and discover language. The activities are auditory and not related to print. A strong foundation of phonemic awareness is necessary for success in phonic, spellling and word recognition.
The activities in this book can be taught in a variety of instructional settings: large group, small group, and transitional times. They can be played many times.
They vary in the degree of difficulty and follow a continuum from easy to challenging. Children do not have to master one task before moving up.
Letter sound connection activities are include.
The continuum is:
Listening games
Rhyming and Alliteration Games
Sentence and Word Segmenting
Syllable segmenting and blending
ONset and Rime Segmenting and Blending

Frog Street Alphabet Characters make it fun. Print outs are included where needed.
