Corrie Tenboom has collected many of her favorite sayings for meditations. They are sometimes astounding and other times they are
not as deep and the ideas are straight forward or in between. It is a one year daily devotional. She kept so many thoughts, meditations, and inspirational ideas to put in her devotional. If you aren't familiar with her- you can appreciate her works since her family in Holland hid Jews from the Germans in their home during WWII. They were finally identified as hiding the Jewish people whenever possible. They suffered from the cold, lack of food, and sickness but were sent on trains with other people, mostly Jewish, to concentration camps. They had lost all their possessions; home, clock/watch business on the first floor and home upstairs. They were forced to walk naked through a line where many German soldiers were watching to be certain that thing went in with them. Corrie and her sister were side by side on this walk and Corrie prayed that no one would even see that a Bible was in her hand. With God's help they walked through naked and Corrie was holding her Bible but the German soldiers never saw the bible...her sister died in the camp as well as other relatives. Corrie managed to support and encourage all the women in the large "sleeping" area. After the war she traveled continuously to tell of her experiences and what God had done for her and her acquaintances at the camp and the horrid circumstances there. She had promised God that if she survived she would spend the rest of her life spreading the word...and she did.
