I was not terribly impressed with the book. I think the authors took their subject and tried to come at it from too many angles. The information is correct (for the most part) but the writers jumbled together different points of view that only tangentially related to each other. Even as a clinical psychologist familiar with all the disorders in the book, I think the writers have tried too hard to "humanize" individuals with legitimate mental disorders.
The book does not have the savvy nor the sensitivity of The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat. I guess I was looking for that type of treatment of the subject matter.
The book seems not to know its audience: it's either, pop psychology, aiming to make the masses feel like they have a handle on some really interesting stuff, or a badly written high school supplementary text.
