I'm a big fan of this series and this book is a great example of why it is so popular. Butch is a human who was introduced in the first book of the series. We've come to know and love him and have been waiting anxiously to know how he will ever find love with Marissa.

As with many series where there is such a long build up to a romance, there is a bit of a let-down when the story is finally told. I do think that is the case with Butch and Marissa.

That said, the book is action packed and steamy as we expect from BDB books. The relationship between Butch and Vishous is very unique and tormented and, frankly, pretty hot. To me, that was more interesting than Butch and Marissa. In a way, I was sad this part of B&V was not explored more deeply. Until this series I never thought I would be interested in m/m romance (which is almost non-existent in this story, please don't get me wrong) - but what I learned is that love is love and if there is a strong relationship and good chemistry, it doesn't matter what gender people are - love is hot.

Incidentally, I found this great fan fiction story about Butch and Vishous that tells the story of an erotic encounter between them which Vishous erases from Butch's memory so he can't feel guilty - but now we know what "could have been". I think you can just google their names and fan fiction and you'll get it. It's even reasonably well-written.

I've read the series twice and this book didn't stick with me like some of the others. Wrath and Beth (book 1) and Zsadist and Bella (book 3) stand out in the first four. Butch and Vishous stand out, but there is no book about them as a couple.
