For someone who needs all the bells and whistles RIGHT NOW, this is not your book. This is an older edition and some things are left out. But if you are new to LaTeX graphics, this is a perfect place to start. Everything in this book should still work and you won't be overwhelmed with a hundred different ways to do the same thing. I don't know about anyone else, but learning something this complex and this hard to pin down from a 500 page book beats trying to learn it from a 2000 page book. Not a very good reference book if you have a very strange nit-picking problem but if you just want to learn to do some very cool graphics for typesetting, this is a good start.
