One of the more interesting books in this series. A young man is taken from the only world he has ever known on Downbelow station and put smack dab in the middle in the aftermath of a war in which his parents were casualties. It is about growing up, both for Fletcher Neihart and for the human race. Cherryh just keeps getting better.
