I really enjoyed this book. Written about the late 1800's when the temperance movement was strong. 3 babies born on the same day grow up in Cleveland. One born into lavish wealth, one middle class, and one dire poverty. The story focuses on the boy born in poverty who's mother dies when he is age 7. His mother's dying prayer is that her son never taste rum. The boy though young is greatly impressed by his mother's prayer and decides to live up to it although his father is a drunk and the boy is tempted on every side. He is ultimately guided by The Lord and comes to a saving knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ. He then is able to help one of the other boys and works his way out of poverty by hard work and right choices.

Great for young people.
