Ursula Hegi has written a a compelling book about some of the Germans who lived at the time of World War II, some who lived after WWII, the effects of war and on being German in America, how they are 'seen', feel about WWI, the Holocaust taboo in their homes & schools while growing up. Many interviews are within book that are well-written about, each tell a story relating to WWII, some sharing grief & shame, many break silence to tell a great story. A great read relating to WWII.
