"SOLD!" bellowed the auctioneer, and standing alone on the auction block, Peri shivered at the words. For only she knew she was not a slave but a Frenchwoman, noble born, whom the hand of fate had held a cruel blow.

Slowly she turned to face the English aristocrat who had bought her. It was said that such men bought slave girls for one of two reasons--either as workers...or mistresses.

One glance at the man told Peri which fate awaited her...and she vowed with all the strenght of her being that he would never have his way!

A Masquerade book.
