This was a very interesting book, told in flashbacks, about a woman who leaves her family to follow her lover to British colonies in Asia. The storyline was reminiscent of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, but told from the woman's perspective. Not only is the personal drama of the story well-told, but the setting of the British colonies is also fascinating.
