Celia Snowden has a problem: everywhere she turns, she's surrounded by weddings, and not one of them is hers. From her job as a wedding columnist at a Portland, Oregon, newspaper to her friend Natalie's marrying a Scotsman she met on the Internet, Celia just can't get away from it all. She dreams of meeting an exotic foreigner who will sweep her off her feet, but her travels abroad have always ended in disaster. Enter Davis Smith, a big teddy bear of a guy from Nebraska. Davis sits across from Celia at the newspaper, harbors a secret crush on her, and rues the fact that his corn-fed charms and friendly blue eyes don't measure up to Celia's ideal of a sexy, dark-eyed foreigner. He knows he'll always have to settle for being her pal, and yet he can't help but hope that someday she might see him differently. Ireland's characters are terrific, and her romance is a joy to read.
