Among the great shoujo epics, MARS is your typical bad boy meets good girl high school romance. Rei is a gorgeous but rebellious motorcycle racer, a bright kid who isn't nearly as carefree and badass as he appears. Kira is a quiet, withdrawn artist, too timid to interact with her peers. Through fortuitous circumstances, Rei becomes Kira's model, protector, then finally boyfriend.

Best for teenage girls over age 13, and fans of shoujo romance like Fushigi Yuugi and Marmalade Boy. It focuses on the romance and the drama; not so much on the humor and everyday life of high schoolers.
