This, being the first in the series, sets the stage for the rest of the books. It gives us insight into the different lead characters: who they are, how they relate to each other and their strengths and weaknesses.

This book seemed to be better written than the second (which I'd read first). I hope that the writing stays at this level for the rest of the LONG series.

A woman âof a certain ageâ â past when she thought she'd ever marry, anyway â decides, when her father dies to travel and visit the lands she'd been studying about.

She rescues a young lady while in Rome. This young lady then becomes her traveling companion.

They travel on to Egypt, find archeologists studying a ruin there and stay to assist for a while. There is a âmummy come to lifeâ which threatens to eject them from their âdigâ. Mystery solved by the end⦠Read it to find out how.
