Alyson Richman captures the reader's heart through the eyes of Marguerite Gachet, the daughter of Dr. Gachet -- the doctor who cared for Van Gogh during his last few months of life. A historical story and a story of a young girl's first love. Unfortunately her love for Van Gogh could never develop and the reasons for this are understandable, yet still leave a sense of yearning for the reader. The reader will get a better feel for the landscape of the French village Auvers-sur-oise, the last place Van Gogh was an intimate part of. Insight about Van Gogh's struggles come alive through Marguerite's perspective. This book will make you a fan of Van Gogh's and you'll want to research all of the characters mentioned in the book. It was an enthralling read!
