Initial book in a series of at least nine novels, each one of which is better than the last.
I'm never quite sure how much to say about a mystery, because I don't want to give away the plot. A police sergeant becomes obsessed with a serial killer and things go on from there. The book does start out a bit slowly, and some of the characters are not well fleshed out, but it gets better.
