This book is a fantastic page turner! Well written and much suspense. Joette (Joe) is the first women on the small town police force and has to put up with being out of the "good old boys" circle on the most explosive crime that the small town has ever seen. The daughter of a female police officer, Joe has many keen insights and the ability to link the clues to a deadly serial killer that has been running loose in the area. The killer relives parts of his tragic and abusive childhood each time he kills. The killer thought he could get away with his crimes for many years but did not count on Joe and her ability go the extra mile to link the evidence against him. Too bad the local police discount Joe and her insight--Joe finds herself a target of the killer after linking his Native American heritiage and local Indian lore to explain the strange tree carvings left at each killing site. Excellent read...one that makes you stay up all night to read it.
