A novel based in fact and in sometimes in heartbreaking fact. As a 3rd generation from immigrant ancestors (on all sides), I found this book highly interesting. Even though my family wasn't Russian or Jewish, I found the story compelling and thought-provoking. Broder & Broder do a great job of taking a sometimes rough story and keep it light enough to interest us. This is not a funeral dirge... it is a story of victors - a story that reminds you of the courage and hope of many of our ancestors.
