Though this book was published in 1994 (still in great shape), the marketing advice in this book is excellent and timeless. Section One, "The Freelance Life" is mostly about the writer's business, social and family life and not about marketing. But it seems as if every writing niche is covered in subsequent chapters. All an aspiring writer of today has to do is research which publications take work from freelancers, whose still in business, and what the guidelines are for submitting a written piece. "Writer's Market" is an excellent resource. Then, in "Writing for Money" you can learn how to make money writing magazine articles, newspaper articles, fillers: hints and humor, greeting cards, newsletters, travel articles, business and technical pieces, ads, resumes, lyrics, and more. This book is for the aspiring writer; for the beginner since most of the topics covered are general but detailed enough to get you started. At least until you find another book on writing that's more in-depth. I found that reading books on writing is a great way to proscrastinate from actually writing....but they're so useful and provide almost endless fuel for our fantasies!
