the Japanese for Busy People texts was a great introduction in the Japanese language. Each chapter starts with a conversation. The conversation is broken down in the chapter for vocabulary, grammer, and cultural tidbits. These books provide a very strong foundation. I started in high school using these as our textbooks and was surprised to see the later volumes used in my college courses. This publisher, Kodansha, makes the best Japanese language resources.
