This book is another great book by Terri Farley in the Phantom Stallion series. Sam ultimately has to choose between her beloved Phantom and her friend Jake, with lots of hard work, horse riding, and fun along the way. This book would be a wonderful read for horse lovers and horse crazy kids alike. It is well written, engaging, and exciting. The descriptions of the horses are beautiful and very easy to picture in one's mind. Some of the talk between Jake and his Indian grandfather and Sam etc is a little superstitious and weird, but that's my opinion. I only have two beefs with Red Feather Filly. #1. Unlink the horse described in the text, the cover horse is bay not black as it should be but then again the picture looks like my own Paint, so I'm OK with that!! #2. From a true horsemanship point-of-view some of the horse training practices aren't exactly accurate, but then again this is a "fiction" novel after all.
