I enjoyed this story just like the other Emma Holly books I've read. I've yet to find one of her books that I don't enjoy. This story kind of surrounds the excavation of site called Hhamoun which was the site of Queen Tou's palace. I think I may have enjoyed it not only because it's a good story, but I also enjoyed Queen Tou's story in a previous book. There is m/f. m/m. and m/m/f sex scenes in the book, but I can't say that they feel unnecessary. The guilt Charles feels afterwards and his struggles show the complexities of people trying to deal with their morals and taboos when it comes to sex and relationships. Emma does an excellent job in building that story and showing the complexities of human nature. Read this book all in one sitting and looking forward to more of Emma Holly.
